Really Gross, but it's healing

So here it is, my poor Danny boy's boil (or what's left of it). It looks really nasty here, but trust me it is better. The redness is irritation from teh tape and it looks like he is bruising. I still am in shock at how bad it got so quickly. Thank goodness we are on the road to recovery.

Danny update

My little doodlebug is doing much much better. Our pediatrician is awesome. She was so concerned about him last night she said she couldn't stop thinking about him. She pulled out the wick and nothing else came out. She did put another one back in. Let me tell you, her wick went in about 2-3 inches into the wound where as the ER docs was only in about a centimeter. She has not been happy with the treatment he received at the ER. She is very happy with the way things are looking, but wants us back again tomorrow. Can you believe it? How many docs are going to go out of their way on Christmas day. I love her. Unfortunately for Jacob he will get to open his Christmas gifts adn then have to leave immediately so we can take Danny in, but I think he'll be OK. I am just so thankful Danny is getting better.

Danny could use some healing vibes

We went back to the doc today and they drained just as much. The antibiotics are not working yet. My pediatrician was PO'ed that the ER doc didn't do a culture (I even asked the ER doc). She thinks it's a drug resistant staph infection. She put Danny on another antibiotic and is meeting us tomorrow morning to look at it again. The office is closed tomorrow, but she is very concerned. If it is still draining or full of infection we will end up in the ER. Please send some prayers that Danny gets better. I really need my little boy to be well. Oh and after the doc we went to the pharmacy to get the prescription and Danny managed to turn himself around in the shopping cart seat and put both legs through one slot. He then slid down and got wedged in. I had to wheel him to the front and beg for help. A wonderful lady who was checking out rushed right over and I yelled at the guy behind the register to help me. We got him out, but his shirt came up and exposed his wound to the world and freaked people out. I ended up breaking down and crying in the middle of CVS. The lady bought the boys M&M's and hugged me. It was super sweet. She wished me a Merry Christmas and said God Bless and I just started sobbing. I just need to shut out the world for a little bit right now.

Doctor, Doctor..give me some news...

I spent the day in teh ER with Danny. He had an abcess that needed to be drained. Ugh. On Tuesday I noticed a pimple on his side. On Wednesday it was bigger, but still looked like a pimple. Yesterday when I picked him up it looked bad. I did hot compresses, Tylenol and hydrocortisone. It looked better this morning but i decided to call the doc just in case b/c of the long weekend. I am so glad I did. They saw him at 11:00 and decided to send us to the ER to have it drained. It was awful. At first he fell asleep so it was OK and they put a topical anesthetic on. When they came back to inject with Linacain (sp?) he was awake and not happy. I had to hold him against me and they sliced him with a scalpel. He screamed so much, it broke my heart. I started cryimng with him as I tried to sing to him. I sing "You Are My Sunshine" whenever it's time to go to sleep or if he needs to be calmed down. Some pus came out and they ended up putting a wick in to keep the site opened to allow for drainage. We go back to the ped tomorrow to have it repacked. Poor little fellow. We think it started with a bite. Over the summer he got an insect bite that turned into something that looked like cellulitis, so I think he is just extremelt allergic.
This has not been a very Merry month for my poor little man. I ended up missing my office party too. It was the last one before we split as a group so I was a little sad. When I left work I planned on going back so I left my coat there and everything.
Let's just hope Danny heals quickly.

Terribly blurry, but here is the tooth.

Anything you can do I can do better.....

So about 2 weeks ago Jacob fell going up a slide. He hit his mouth and chipped out a piece of his front tooth. We went to the dentist and they were able to rebuild it. Looks pretty good. Well not to be outdone by his brother, Danny took a spill yesterday. I was standing on a chair putting up Christmas decorations when he tried to step over onto the chair. He didn't make it. He fell and hit his face on the seat. And ooooohhhhh was there a lot of blood. After much running around and a return call from the ped we decided nothing could be done about it right then. He knocked the whole tooth out, root and all. So we went to the pediatric dentist (who was wonderful) and decided it was healing nicely and he'll have a big gap there until his permanet tooth comes in. He also chipped his other front tooth and tore the gum above his eye tooth. It has a big clot and looks so nasty! As soon as I can get him to cooperate I will take a pic. In the meantime I will try to get a pic of the tooth and post it. I will warn you when I do because it is gross!!
Oh and on a side note, the dentist said it's always the ones witht eh nicest looking teeth that seem to knock them out. I can't believe he is going to be gappy for another 3 to 5 years.
